CrossFit is about utilizing your training to benefit your daily life. Whether your goal is the Olympic Games or to remain independent and live on your own for as long as possible CrossFit will benefit you. The words of CrossFit’s founder, Greg Glassman, best describe this concept:
“People’s needs differ by degree not kind. Olympic athletes and our grandparents both need to fulfill their potentials for cardiorespiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, speed, power, coordination, accuracy, balance, and agility. One is looking for functional dominance the other for functional competence. Competence and dominance manifest and optimize through identical physiological mechanisms. We scale our program by altering rest, load, intensity, etc. while utilizing the same tools (exercises) for everyone whenever possible.”
…for the athlete?

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program based on constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity. It develops a strong, balanced, and efficient athletic base upon which sport-specific training is more effective. No matter your sport you will feel solid, move efficiently, and recover quickly hence allowing a greater increase in your training load without injury or breakdown.
…for the retiree?

The fundamental exercises utilized in CrossFit programming are effective because they translate into movements performed in everyday life not simply athletics. For example, the deadlift is the safest way to pick any object off the ground whether that object is a bag of groceries, a laundry basket or a bar loaded with heavy weight. From fall prevention to reduction of osteoporosis CrossFit training will improve your health. A thorough beginner program and screening is performed in order to see your current condition and effectively scale your workouts for improvement.
…for the weekend warrior?

You’re not paid for your athletic endeavors; there are no sell-out crowds at your events; you won’t be featured on a Wheaties box but week after week you train, play, and compete. Your glory days don’t have to be a thing of the past. Through CrossFit many ex-athletes have found that they can achieve even more as their youth slips away. “I wish I had known this when I was younger, I’m fitter now than when I was 18” is a statement echoed in CrossFit gyms around the world. The movements in CrossFit expose and rehabilitate old injuries and compensations strengthening that “unstable shoulder”, “bad knee” and “achy low-back”.
…for the mother/mother-to-be?
-
Let’s face it, child-birth and parenting should be considered athletic events. CrossFit programming is scaled for mother’s-to-be by reducing the intensity while still maintaining musculoskeletal balance and ease of movement. You’ll also have the energy and mobility to chase around those ever-energetic toddlers. Studies have shown that mother’s who follow exercise routines while pregnant:
-
tend to have easier, shorter, less complicated labors
-
decrease susceptibility to illness
-
have fewer aches and pains associated with late-term pregnancy
-
recover quicker to their “pre-pregnancy” body (or even better)
-
-
Babies of exercising moms:
-
are better able to handle the stress of labor and delivery
-
sleep through the night sooner
-
are better able to self-calm

…for the health-conscious?
-
Healthy living is about self-esteem and pride, not arrogance and elitism. At Stay Active CrossFit we follow a healthy lifestyle creating a supportive community predicated on the efforts of each individual. Healthy choices are basic but not always convenient in today’s society. Avoiding processed foods, working out when you’re busy, and mental rest can seem like daunting tasks when done alone. Stay Active CrossFit is an atmosphere that makes you a part of something larger. As you grow, we grow; as we improve, you improve.
…for the competitive?
-
CrossFit is the Sport of Fitness. Each workout is designed to give a score so you can compete against yourself or many others. The CrossFit Games are held in Aromas, California and growing each year. Through the expert coaching of Stay Active CrossFit you will have an improved opportunity to attend regional qualifiers and perhaps make the national competition. One may compete as an individual but we also plan to attend as an Affiliate Team if the desire is there among our community. Bring your fire-breather spirit and we’ll make you more efficient - increased power output for your effort.
